Albert Nobbs is a winner!
03 Nov 2011
Glenn Close won the best actress trophy for her role in Albert Nobbs at the 24th Tokyo International Film Festival! The film takes place in 19th century Ireland and Glenn Close plays the title role of Albert Nobbs - a woman disguising herself as a male butler in an upmarket Dublin hotel. For over 30 years Albert has kept her gender a secret in order to escape life of poverty and loneliness.
Close has played this role on stage before more than 20 years ago. She puts in a remarkable and heart-rending performance as her complex character and pulls of an incredible transformation. Albert Nobbs is a wonderful drama full of humour and tenderness.
Albert Nobbs was directed by Rodrigo Garcia (Mother and Child) and it co-stars Australia's own Mia Wasikowska, Aaron Johnson, Janet McTeer and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. We are extremely excited to be releasing this extraordinary film just in time for Christmas, on December 26.
